On my free time, my friend and I from high school, we made a business called Raw Kicks where we were restore and customize shoes. These are some of the shoes we're working on right now. If you can see that black mark right there-- that's a paint chip that needs to be fixed. So basically, we try to bring shoes back to life.
Omar and I started Raw Kicks because in high school-- we grew up in Boston, so sneakers was a really big thing throughout the city. And we always wanted to know how to keep our shoes in the best shape, keep them in the best condition. This is Omar, my friend from high school. He's the person I started the business with. Right now he's just cleaning a pair of shoes.
We have class. Then we have to go to work. So the balance between doing that and running a business-- it's kind of hard. But at the same time, it's manageable. I feel like when we give the customers back their shoe, that's the best part. It makes us feel really accomplished. It makes us feel like we helped somebody out, and that's just a good feeling.
